Grant Information & Applications

Below you'll find helpful information about how SLAA Tuition, Education and Youth Ministry Grants work, as well as links to the appropriate online application form.


 

Tuition Assistance Grant

Purpose: Tuition assistance grants assist students from the South Atlantic District of the WELS  Circuit 1 of the ELS who are pursuing WELS Lutheran secondary education in a school such as LPS or MLS.
 

Eligible Applicants: Students entering grades 9-12 that are members of WELS South Atlantic District and ELS Circuit 1 congregations, or those who have graduated from a WELS South Atlantic District or ELS Circuit 1 elementary school who are, or will be attending, a WELS / ELS high school or preparatory school.


Dates: Grants may be submitted from January 1st to April 15th. These grants are reviewed after April 15th. Applicants will be notified by May 31st with the Grant Review Committee's decision. Awarded funds will be disbursed to the school on behalf of the student before the beginning of the school year.

 

To Apply for a Tuition Assistance Grant:  The 2019 Tuition Grant window closed on April 15, 2019. Your next opportunity to apply will be from January 1, 2020 through April 15, 2020.  

 


 

Educaton Grants


Purpose: Education Grants will be used to advance Christian education to adolescents in the South Atlantic District of the WELS and Circuit 1 of the ELS. Areas where education may be advanced include, but are not limited to: distance learning, adding grades to an existing Lutheran Elementary School, expanding youth education programs within a congregation, etc.

Eligible Applicants: All WELS South Atlantic District and ELS Circuit 1 congregations.

Dates: Grants may be submitted from January 1st to October 1st. All grants are reviewed in May and October. Awarded funds are disbursed within 30 days following approval.

Youth Ministry Grants


Purpose: Youth ministry grants assist teens in the South Atlantic District of the WELS and Circuit 1 of the ELS in their spiritual development during the difficult adolescent years. Youth ministry grants can be used in many different ways, for example: life- changing mission trips, camps, tours of synodical schools, etc.

Eligible Applicants: All WELS South Atlantic District and ELS Circuit 1 congregations.

Dates: Grants may be submitted from January 1st to October 1st. All grants are reviewed in May and October. Awarded funds are disbursed within 30 days following approval.
