Counseling in Times of Crisis

"In this world, you will have trouble."  We live and minister in a world of death, mourning, crying, and pain.  Our members are exhausted from fighting against their flesh, bruised by the troubles of the world, and barraged daily by the attacks of Satan.  As we sit beside people in their hardest moments, what can we possibly find to say?  After all, we too, are bruised and exhausted!  But then Jesus speaks. "Take heart!" he says.  "I have overcome the world."  No matter where we go in life, we carry with us Jesus' message of victory, peace, and life.  We carry with us the healing balm of God's Word, which soothes our members' wounds and our own.  No matter our personality, gifts, or interests, Jesus equips each pastor to be a counselor... sitting beside people in their hardest moments and refreshing them with God's comfort and compassion.
